CMN is proud to be a member of the International Mountain Society. The Society publishes Mountain Research and Development (MRD), the leading international scientific journal specifically devoted to sustainable development in the world’s mountains. Graham McDowell, Project Lead for the Canadian Mountain Assessment, serves on the International Editorial Board.
International Mountain Society
The goal of the International Mountain Society (IMS) is to advance knowledge and disseminate information about mountain research and mountain development throughout the world. The IMS aims to promote sustainable mountain development through improved communication among institutions and individuals, with a particular focus on mountain ecoregions in the developing world. In order to further this purpose, the association publishes a quarterly journal, Mountain Research and Development.

The overall mission of the journal Mountain Research and Development is to foster sustainable development in mountains by supporting peer-reviewed interdisciplinary, disciplinary, and transdisciplinary research on mountains, developing scientific capacity, capitalizing on development experiences, promoting policy dialogue, and strengthening networks within the mountain community.
