Fire with Fire: braiding Indigenous and scientific knowledges of fire management to enhance climate change resilience in Alberta (Fire with Fire) is a two year (2019 – 2021) collaborative project between The Resilience Institute, Alberta Environment and Parks, Kainai First Nation, Piikani First Nation, Samson Cree Nation and Dene Tha’ First Nation. The objective of Fire With Fire is to mobilize best available Indigenous and scientific knowledge of fire to inform innovative practices for local, regional and provincial climate change adaptation.

This will be done by:

  • Building community capacity to mobilizing Indigenous knowledge through participatory methodologies; and,

  • Creating space for dialogue and knowledge-sharing between Indigenous, scientific and decision-making communities.

The Fire with Fire Project multi-partner knowledge convening held September 25-27th 2019 was the first of two knowledge sharing activities delivered as part of the Fire with Fire project.
