Biography

Ms. Lois Philipp is Dene from Fort Providence and she has dedicated her life to the youth of the Deh Cho region. As former Principal, and now Vice-Principal, of the Deh Gáh Elementary & Secondary School, she worked tirelessly to adapt the school’s programming and scheduling, resulting in higher attendance rates and a significant increase in the number of students attending post-secondary educational institutions. It is Lois’ continuous desire to provide innovative approaches to education and community development that led her to work collaboratively to build partnerships that support her work in the community. She has a vast and diverse network of local, regional and territorial partnerships that support a community-based approach to service opportunities for Indigenous youth.
